DEFENDER David Bates signed from Raith Rovers in January 2017.
Joining initially on a Development Loan in August 2016 from the Kirkcaldy outfit, Bates firstly featured for the Light Blues’ under-20s side, although he soon saw himself seeing more involvement in the first team squad and went on to clinch a permanent deal.
He featured in friendly matches with Linfield and RB Leipzig before the arrival of Pedro Caixinha as manager saw him begin to play a more prominent role.
He made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock on April 5, 2017, and kept a clean sheet in Gers’ next two matches too – the 3-0 win over Aberdeen and 2-0 defeat of Partick Thistle.
In all, he made eight appearances for his boyhood heroes towards the end of the season.
