DANIEL CANDEIAS joined Rangers on a two-year-deal from Portuguese side Benfica this summer.
The winger put pen to paper to become Pedro Caixinha’s fifth signing of the summer and reunite the pair who worked together at Nacional during the 2011/12 season.
At 29-years-old Candeias started his senior career with Porto, where he made four first-team appearances before a string of loans sent him to Portuguese sides Varzim, Rio Ave and Paços de Ferreira as well as Spanish side Recreativo.
It was in his next permanent move that Candeias first met Caixinha when he signed for Nacional, making 85 appearances over four years and scoring 13 goals. He was also loaned to Portimonense during that time, making 28 appearances in the 2010/11 season and scoring one goal.
Candeias moved to Benfica in 2014 but never made an appearance for the club instead he has enjoyed loan moves to FC Nürnberg in Germany scoring two in 16 appearances, Granada CF in Spain where he played 11 times and FC Metz in France netting two in 28 games.
Most recently he has been on loan at Alanyaspor in Turkey and the wide man played his last game in the Turkish Super League just last week. He made 30 appearances for Alanyaspor during the 2016/17 season scoring four goals.
Candeias represented Portugal from Under 16 to Under 23 level, scoring 22 goals at youth level for his country.
