Player Profile

Mexican international Carlos Peña agreeing a three-year deal in June 2017.

Known as ‘Gullit’ in his homeland because of his similarity to Dutch legend Ruud, 27-year-old Pena joins the Light Blues from Liga MX side Guadalajara and is someone the Gers boss knows well from his time at Santos Laguna.

Capped 19 times by his country and selected for the 2014 World Cup, the attacking midfielder has yet to play for a club outside of Mexico having had spells with Pachuca, Leon and Guadalajara, who paid a reported €8 million for the playmaker in December 2015.

Peña returned to Leon on loan in December 2016 and will now get an opportunity to show Rangers fans what he can do while working with a manager he rates highly.

A, skilful, creative player in the middle of the park, Caixinha’s latest addition to his squad can break up attacks and push forward with a desire to provide assists or find the net himself.

On his move to Scotland, the player told RangersTV: “I am very happy to become part of this great club that has such great supporters.

“I have been waiting for this move for many years now. I wanted to become part of European football and I hope I will be able to make my own contribution to the team.”
