THERE was disappointment this afternoon for Rangers Women as heavy rain called off their SSE Scottish Cup third round tie against Glasgow Girls at half-time.

The Gers were 2-1 ahead scoring a goal just before the break but as heavy rain continued to fall, referee Karen Gilmartin took the decision to abandoned play.

Gregory Vignal’s side were ahead on the 25th minute as Jade Gallon pounced on a loose ball in the box to net from close range.

However, the lead was short lived as just two minutes later the conditions caused problems for Rangers keeper Chloe Nicolson as she spilled a cross from Taylor Fisher with Chloe Docherty on hand to poke the ball home for the visitors.

Rangers were back in front just before the break as Hannah Coakley drilled a low effort home from an Ellis Dalgliesh corner.

A date for the rescheduled fixture will be announced in due course.
