GREGORY Vignal praised his sides second-half performance as the Gers got off to the ‘perfect’ start in the 2020 SWPL campaign with a 3-0 victory over Hearts.

A double from Megan Bell and a strike from Kirsten Reilly helped the new-look squad to their first three points of the season.

Speaking to RangersTV after the match, Joint Head Coach Vignal said: “I think it is a really good start for the girls after a long pre-season so three points and a clean sheet was perfect.

“The first-half was quite difficult against the wind but second-half we played really well and we tried to play our game model so we are really pleased.

“Megan got her two goals, I think she will score a lot of goals this year, that is why we signed her she is capable. I am pleased for Kirsten too because she made a good run to get into the box to the goal.

“The clean sheet is important, especially for the goalkeeper I am really pleased for Jenna. You finish the game without conceding the goal and it is so important and it shows your character and it is important for the girls.”

It is a busy week ahead for the Light Blues as they welcome Queen’s Park to Rangers Training Centre on Thursday evening, before travelling to Hamilton on Sunday in the SWPL Cup.

Vignal continued: “It will be a tough week, on Thursday night and then Sunday so we need plenty of recovery now.

“We said to the girls you are Rangers professional players so you need to look after your lifestyle so the right things and recovery.”
