RANGERS Women came from behind to beat Motherwell at Ravenscraig this afternoon.
Motherwell were in front after 18 minutes, but strikes from Hannah Robertson and Brogan Hay had Gregory Vignal’s side ahead at the break, before Rosie Mcquillan added a third in the second half.
Rangers threatened early on as a Motherwell clearance bounced off one of their defenders and broke for Jade Gallon. Gallon tried a shot first time but her effort was saved well by the Motherwell goalkeeper.
It was the home side who took the lead on the 18th minute as a looping effort from distance beat Khym Ramsay in the Rangers goal.
The lead only lasted for minutes as the Gers were back level with a strike of their own as Hannah Robertson curled an effort from the edge of the box into the back of the net.
Brogan Hay almost had Rangers ahead as she got a shot away 10 minutes before the break but it was touched behind by the Motherwell keeper.
Hay did give Rangers the edge just a few minutes later as she drove down the right wing before cutting inside and drilling a low powerful effort into the back of the net.
The Gers almost had a third before the break as Jade Gallon’s shot was blocked by the keeper and the rebound fell for Hannah Robertson, but Motherwell managed to get the block in again to deny Rangers a third.
Early in the second-half, Rangers came close as Jade Gallon saw her shot go just wide of goal.
Gregory Vignal’s side had a third with 25 minutes remaining and it was another great strike from the Gers.
Substitute Rosie Mcquillan found herself in space at the edge of the box and curled an effort high over the Motherwell keeper and into the back of the net.
Mcquillan almost had a second on the 80th minute as she got on the end of a long ball forward, but her shot across goal drifted just wide of the post.
The 15-year-old came close again shortly after with another effort from distance but the Motherwell keeper managed to get a touch to tip it over the bar.
Freya McDonald was close to adding a fourth in the late stages of the game as her shot from inside the box was pushed wide by the goalkeeper.
It was a lively end to the game, as Khym Ramsay had a good save late on to deny Motherwell their second of the afternoon.
