ANOTHER season of women’s football is almost upon us and club representatives were on duty as the new Scottish Women’s Premier League season was launched at Hampden Park on Friday.
Gers defender Rachael O’Neill was in attendance along with her counterparts from around the league ahead of the mid-March kick-off.
Excitement was high as the players and coaches caught a glimpse of the prize on offer but also got a chance to size up the opposition ahead what is sure to be an exciting season for the Women’s Premier League in Scotland.
O’Neill was buoyant ahead of the start of the new campaign and believes her sides preparations throughout preseason will bode well for the start of their campaign.
She said: “It’s great to be back! We’ve already had a couple of games with girl’s teams and men’s teams so it’s always great to get back into it.
“Obviously playing girls teams [in preseason] is always good because they represent the level you playing at but I think playing against boys is just that step-up as they tend to be faster and that bit fitter.”
O’Neill also heralded the new signings brought into the club ahead of the new year.
She said: “The great thing is we’ve only added to our squad and those additions have brought a new lease of life to the team with the competition for places increasing but also the standard of training has been much better because of it.”
