RANGERS clinched the first silverware of the Souness Revolution with a League Cup win over Celtic on this day in 1986.

A controversial match at Hampden was won thanks to goals from Ian Durrrant and an 84th minute penalty winner by Davie Cooper after Terry Butcher had been hauled down inside the box.

Derek Ferguson, replacing Graeme Souness in the midfield was voted as man of the match, however it was scorers Durrant and Cooper who were awarded the spoils for scoring the first and last goals, with Durrant winning a trip on Concorde and Cooper winning a gold watch.
