IT was a difficult afternoon for Rangers Women as they lost 8-0 to Hibs at Ainslie Park.

The Gers were 4-0 down at the break as the second-placed SWPL side piled on the pressure.

Gregory Vignal made two changes to his side from Wednesday’s 4-3 victory over Motherwell as the suspended Chantelle Brown was replaced in the starting eleven by Shelley Campbell, while Khym Ramsay replaced Chloe Nicolson in goal.

Hibs opened the scoring on the 6th minute as Jamie-Lee Napier played the ball through to Rachael Boyle on the edge of the box with her strike beating Khym Ramsay in the Rangers goal.

The hosts came close to doubling their lead just a few minutes later as Napier again drove forward with the ball, Ramsay got a touch but the it fell kindly for Napier again as she was through on an empty goal but her effort was cleared off the line by defender Chelsie Watson.

The second did come for Hibs on the 14th minute as Napier played a ball forward to Rachael Boyle who beat the offside trap to tap home from close range.

Hibs continued to press as Colette Cavanagh hit the bar with her strike before the referee awarded a free-kick after a foul on the edge of the box.

Captain Joelle Murray stepped up to take the free-kick and curled the ball into the right-hand side of the net.

Hibs added a fourth after just 22 minutes as Boyle’s free-kick was headed home by Siobhan Hunter.

The hosts had another good chance before the break as Napier fired another dangerous cross into the box but it was just behind Gallagher

Khym Ramsay had a good save for Rangers early in the second half as Jamie-Lee Napier picked out Boyle inside the box but her strike was saved by the keeper.

Boyle had her hat-trick for Hibs on the 57th minute as she got on the end of a ball from Siobhan Hunter to round the keeper and slot into an empty net.

There was a sixth on the hour mark as a corner swung in by Boyle dropped for Shannon McGregor to touch the ball home from close range.

Gregory Vignal made a triple change to his side with half an hour remaining as Hannah Robertson, Brogan Hay and Jade Gallon came on to replace Carla Boyce, Ellis Dalgliesh and Holly Napier.

McGregor had her second of the afternoon on the 65th minute as she headed home after a high ball was put into the box by Lauren Davidson.

Hibs added an eighth on 10 minutes later as Jamie-Lee Napier picked up the rebound from a save and drilled a low effort into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
