RANGERS knocked Celtic out of the Scottish Cup at Hampden today and Gers boss Mark Warburton says that the Light Blues have to keep working hard now to close the gap to the top of the Premiership.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, Warburton said: “We’ve got to recognise that our job now is to keep closing the gap.
“Today we’ve showed what we’ve said, that the gap isn’t as wide as everyone has said. I’ve read some ridiculous reports about the gap and the number of goals which they are going to win by.
“We showed that we are working hard to close the gap. We are working hard and we have to focus and close that gap as quickly as possible. We have the quality of players and the quality of staff to do that.”
The Gers were ahead in the game twice only to be pegged back for the game to go to extra time and then penalties and Warburton was delighted that his side could prove how far they’ve came this season with a new team.
He continued: “Today was our day and we were the better team, but they are packed with international experience and they have been playing European football, with all of the financial impetus that can be received from that.”
