JOSH WINDASS grabbed the only goal of the game as the Gers defeated Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in the Florida Cup tonight.

The Englishman was one of ten changes made by Graeme Murty at halftime in the match against Atletico and he made an excellent impact scoring the only goal of the game.

Speaking to RangersTV following the game, Windass said: “It was only a friendly, so it doesn’t mean too much but it’s nice to take part in this competition and to win.

“To come to a hot country like this and to play it’s difficult, but the lads did well and we got the win.

“It was a great run from Daniel Candeias down the left and he pulled it back, then Eduardo Herrera has set me up and I just swazzed it into the bottom corner, so it was nice.

“We all knew at the start of the game that we were getting forty-five minutes each so to come on and to score is a good thing.”

New boys Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy put in assured performances in the first half of the match and Windass was impressed with them both on the pitch and off it since they joined the group of players last week.

He continued: “Since they’ve come they’ve settled in really well and the lads have made them feel really welcome. They’ve fitted into the squad quite well so far and I thought they done well do far.

“Hopefully they can put in some big performances towards the end of the season.”
