PETER LOVENKRANDS reckons Rangers will ‘need to be on their game’ in next Saturday’s Legends match with the Dane expecting a tough test against a star-studded Liverpool side.

The Red Men will bring north with them a host of famous faces, not least current Ibrox gaffer Steven Gerrard and his long-term teammate and current TV pundit Jamie Carragher.

Lovenkrands knows his side will need to be in top form for the hotly-anticipated clash – but regardless, he just can’t wait to run out at Ibrox once again in the famous blue jersey.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” he said, “and especially for me, seeing old teammates and we will be playing against some good players as well.

“It will be very interesting and I am looking forward to having a bit of fun.

“The team they are putting out looks really, really good, so we will need to be on our game I think!

“We’ll need to have some good legs in the team to hopefully cope with that, but it will be good fun.”

Lovenkrands, as well as being on the coaching staff in Gers’ Academy, still plays plenty of football – but he admits it has been a long time since he last played 90-minutes on an 11-a-side pitch.

“I couldn’t tell you!” He smiled. “I hope we have a big squad so I don’t need to play for the 90 minutes! It will be good to get a run-out – I like playing with the boys at times, but that is completely different to playing on a big pitch like Ibrox!

“I saw Alan Hutton is coming, and if I hope if I am out on the wing I have him behind me as he has better legs than me!”
