RYAN JACK was again a standout performer for the Light Blues as Steven Gerrard’s men started their Europa League Group G campaign in style against Feyenoord at Ibrox tonight.
The industrious midfielder had a fine game on his return to the manager’s starting eleven as Rangers beat Jaap Stam’s side 1-0, with Sheyi Ojo getting the only goal with a stunning long-range drive on 23 minutes.
Speaking to RangersTV post-match, Jack said: “It was fantastic. We worked on our shape and our formation all week and to a man I thought we carried the game plan out excellently.
“That’s what we worked on, don’t let Feyenoord come here and have it their own way and have it nice and easy.
We thought ‘just get on the front foot and put them under pressure’. I think we done that and I’m proud of the boys. We deserved the win.
“Look, it could have been more. Obviously James misses the pen and we had a few more chances. But we showed that when we don’t score we just have to keep it tight and I thought the boys at the back were excellent.
“Big Fil was outstanding and we move on to Sunday now. It’s s big one so we move on.”
Jack was delighted to see Ojo find the net with his rocket shot which gave Feyenoord keeper Kenneth Vermeer no chance. He said: “Sheyi has got that quality. What a strike it was and it deserved to win any game.
“I’m delighted for Sheyi and I’m sure he will build on that going forward.”
