LEE WALLACE has given his support to Barrie McKay after the Gers attacker penned an extension to his contract last week.
The Light Blues skipper has been impressed with the form of the youngster this season and told RangersTV of his delight at the new deal. He said: “He’s done ever so well for us this season.
“I’ve seen him make his debut for the club, I’ve seen him play a number of first team games for the club, then go out on loan which will have helped him as a player.
“He was further exposed to first team football when out on loan and I’ve seen him grow and mature over the last couple of years, particularly this season.”
McKay has played thirty-four times for the Gers this season and Wallace says that he has been fostering a good working relationship with him down the left flank.
He continued: “I’ve been forming a good partnership with him down the left hand side and I’ve been enjoying playing with him there and I’ve really enjoyed the progression that he’s made.
“His new contract is fully deserved and he’s been terrific for the club this season.
“I think everyone seen the potential that Barrie had. He obviously came into the team very early on and was very young when he made his debut, but impressed.
“It was always about him finding that consistency and he has found that and going out on loan to get first team football will have helped.
“He benefitted from getting that experience, but he’s also benefitted from the management team and their style of play.
He has been a mainstay in the team and he’s done ever so well.”
