WE look at some of the memorable moments that have happened on this day in the remarkable history of Rangers Football Club
In 1998 Rangers clinched the first silverware of Dick Advocaat’s managerial reign.
The first leg of a treble was secured with League Cup success over St Johnstone at Parkhead. Stephane Guivarch and Jorg Albertz got the goals that ensured a 2-1 win for Rangers and a first success for their new Dutch boss.
In 1986 Rangers secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Hearts at Ibrox. There was a real Scottish flavour to the day as Ally McCoist, Davie Cooper and Ian Durrant got the goals.
In 2011, Rangers travelled to Germany to face old friends Hamburg in a friendly match which ended 2-1 to the home side. Ivo Illicevic opened the scoring for Hamburg, before Thomas Kind Bendiksen equalised for the Light Blues and Heung Min Son scored the winner.
