ALLY McCOIST will meet Graham Wallace to discuss his transfer budget for next season on Monday morning.

The manager is due to start his week by talking to his chief executive as he looks to finalise his plans for player recruitment and any departures over the summer.

The two are finally in a position to discuss such matters after the club’s business review came out yesterday.

And McCoist said: “I’ll be right in on Monday morning with a view to planning, changing and hopefully bringing in boys who will help the squad.

“We’re looking to strengthen ahead of what will be a very tough campaign next season. I’ve had a brief indication to say the budget won’t be too dissimilar to this year’s.

“Straight away, that tells me we can perhaps juggle about and make one or two changes here and there. I’d be loath to comment more until I inform my own staff of the plans.

“It’s going to be competitive next year. We’ve obviously played three teams from the Championship this year.

“We beat Queen of the South in the Ramsdens Cup, had a good result at Falkirk and then lost in extra-time to Raith.

“I’ve seen a good bit of the teams. Whether it’s Dumbarton, Hamilton or Dundee, I’ve probably seen all of them now.

“It is going to be difficult and a lot of the teams are full-time which would suggest it will be harder. We anticipate a tough campaign but we’re really looking forward to it.”

McCoist was speaking after seeing his team collect the League One trophy it won more than six weeks after they secured the title.

And while he was satisfied with how his men had performed as they beat Stranraer 3-0 at Ibrox, he took time to pay tribute to the club’s fans.

More than 46,000 of them packed into the stadium to enjoy the final home game of the season as they remembered the late Sandy Jardine and paid their respects to him too.

McCoist added: “The fans have been unbelievable. They’ve shown in the last couple of years just what the club means to them all.

“Individually and collectively as a support, they’ve been quite incredible. They have been phenomenal and I don’t have any doubt they’ll continue to support the club.”
