RANGERS can today announce the club have secured the services of highly rated young goalkeeper Aidan McAdams on a three-year-deal.
The 18-year-old moves from Old Firm rivals Celtic, where he started his career, to join the Gers.
The stopper was first choice for Scotland at last year’s Under 17 European Championships as well as in the Victory Shield the season before.
Head of Academy Craig Mulholland commented: “We are pleased to secure Aidan and welcome him to the club.
“He had a number of options including remaining at his own club and two good options in England but the quality of goalkeeping provision our Academy GK coach Colin Stewart and his team of staff at the club offer was attractive to Aidan and was a big factor in his decision to join Rangers.
“In addition Aidan was also excited by the unique cross border games programme our Development Squad will participate in this year which will hopefully accelerate the development, in a way not seen before, of all of our 20’s players.
“He is the first pick goalkeeper at his age at international level and was outstanding in securing Scotland’s place in the European Championship finals last year.
“By adding a goalkeeper of Aidan’s quality to our already very strong team of goalkeepers at a similar age we believe it will stimulate excellent competition and help push all of these talented prospects to maximise their potential.
“Furthermore with the outstanding young goalkeepers we already have combined with the addition of Aidan we now have a number who are close to making the transition to the first team group.
“We are confident therefore that the first team will be able to have two Academy graduates within their three first team goalkeeping slots in the coming years which would be great for the Academy and the club.
“We very much look forward to working with Aidan over the next few years.”
