MARK Warburton hands competitive debuts to Matt Gilks, Lee Hodson and Clint Hill at Ibrox this evening as his Gers prepare to take on Annan Athletic in the BetFred Cup.

Josh Windass and Niko Kranjcar make their first starts for the club and join Gilks, Hill and Hodson in making their Ibrox bows as the manager makes wholesale changes to his squad.

Gilks takes over from Wes Foderingham in goal, who was an ever-present last season, and will aim to make an impact after stating his intention to battle it out with Foderingham.

Lee Hodson hasn’t played for the club since he joined from MK Dons earlier this month, he was given extra time off after his trip to Euro 2016 with Northern Ireland. He will fill in for James Tavernier at right-back.

Hill meanwhile comes in for Rob Kiernan and makes his first appearance since joining Warburton’s ranks from QPR this summer. He will partner Rob Kiernan at centre-half, while captain Lee Wallace stays at left-back.

Kranjcar and Windass both played in the Light Blues win over Motherwell at the weekend, the Croatian for half an hour and Windass for 20 minutes. Both impressed and will be hoping to make an impact on home soil.

Joey Barton takes his place on the bench and is likely to feature after Warburton promised fans the former Manchester City and QPR midfielder would make an appearance as he prepares for the new season.
