ACCORDING to Martyn Waghorn Rangers have the perfect blend ahead of the new season.

The striker has been impressed by his manager’s latest additions and thinks the team’s trip to Charleston has helped unify the new group.

And the 25-year-old has noticed standards go up amongst the Light Blues with the new competition around.

Speaking on tour with the Gers, Waghorn said: “We’ve got a good blend and a good mix of experience and youth and I think that’s only going to benefit us.

“You can see from the quality of training that our standards have gone up a little bit more.”

“These trips are crucial because you get the new boys in to get them settled and you get a bit of banter with them so that they can integrate a bit quicker.

“The way we are as a team is that we all know where we want to be and we all know how hungry we are and what the goal is this season and that’s to win the league this season.”

“I think everyone has bought into that and the training that we have been putting in shows that.

“I’m excited to be working with them. We’ve brought in young Josh and Matt from Accrington, two young and hungry boys.

“Whereas on the other end of the scale we have Niko, Clint, Matt and we’ve not joined up with Joey and Jordan yet, so it’s coming together nicely.”

Waghorn will have some new service through the middle this season thanks to the recruitment of Niko Kranjcar.

The striker is looking forward to benefitting from the Croatian’s passes as he looks to carry on those impressive scoring stats from his maiden season in Scotland.

Waghorn said: “Everyone can see Niko’s quality and where he has been playing his football over the years.”

“We’ve seen from the first few days of training what he possesses and what he brings.

“As a striker that can only benefit you by getting on the end of some of his balls, so it’ll be nice and I look forward to linking up with him.”
