STEVEN GERRARD has made six changes to his starting eleven for tonight’s League Cup quarter-final tie against Ayr United at Ibrox Stadium.

Wes Foderingham will feature between the posts for the Light Blues with Joe Worrall and Andy Halliday – who will wear the captain’s armband this evening – in defence and Graham Dorrans, Ovie Ejaria and Glenn Middleton in midfield.

Dropping out from the team which started against St Johnstone at the weekend are Allan McGregor, captain James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Daniel Candeias, Lassana Coulibaly and Scott Arfield.

Jordan Rossiter is named on the bench tonight as is Albanian internationalist Eros Grezda.

Foderingham makes his second start of the season in the League Cup having also played against Kilmarnock in round two of the tournament and in front of the big Englishman is a back four of Jon Flanagan and Halliday at right and left back respectively and Nikola Katic and Worrall in the centre of defence.

Ross McCrorie is expected to be the holding midfielder with Ryan Kent and Middleton on the flanks and Dorrans – who is making his first start this term, as is Middleton – and Ejaria also in the engine room.

Up front and hoping to add to the seven goals he has scored in 2018/19 so far is Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.

Joining Rossiter and Grezda on the subs list tonight are goalkeeper Robby McCrorie, Lee Wallace, Connor Goldson, Stephen Kelly and Scott Arfield.

RANGERS: Foderingham, Flanagan, Katic, Worrall, Halliday, Dorrans, Ross McCrorie, Ejaria, Kent, Middleton, Morelos
