The Rangers Youth Development Company has continued its incredible support for the Rangers Academy by presenting Head of Academy Craig Mulholland and youth graduate Ross McCrorie with a cheque for £250,000.

Since 2002, RYDC profit has been directed to Rangers Football Club’s youth department and more than £7.5 million has been provided in the last 16 years.

This latest contribution – 12 months after their £175,000 donation – highlights RYDC’s commitment to assisting the youth programme.

Director of Operations Colin Stewart made the presentation at the training ground today (Monday 29 January 2018) and the £250,000 raised is profit from their ongoing products which include Rangers Lotto, Rising Stars, Scratchcards, Stadium Bricks and The Youth Members Club.

Thousands of supporters participate in RYDC initiatives each week and Colin has praised the fans for their incredible generosity.

He commented: “The Rangers Youth Development Company is delighted to present the Club’s Youth Academy with another £250,000 but it would not be possible without the support of our incredible fanbase.

“RYDC is totally committed to assisting youth development at Rangers and the fans once again deserve enormous credit for their fantastic backing.

“Craig Mulholland and his Academy team have helped produce talented players like Ross McCrorie, Jamie Barjonas, Aidan Wilson, Serge Atakayi and Ryan Hardie in recent times and I have no doubt our latest £250,000 donation will go towards developing talented players for the future.”

Craig Mulholland added: “On behalf of all the staff and players at the Academy, we would genuinely like to thank Colin Stewart and his team for their ongoing, fantastic support.

“The Rangers Youth Development Company has supported the Academy for more than 50 years and we are thrilled to receive this latest donation of £250,000, which is an incredible amount.

“I would also like to thank the Rangers supporters, whose contribution allows us to undertake our exciting and ambitious plans for the Academy. Together I am confident we can achieve something special.

“RYDC help support us in a variety of ways and the changes we have made to the Academy in the last few years – which has seen us recruit top quality Academy coaching staff like Graeme Murty and Colin Stewart who have been promoted to the first team and the ex-Rangers players such as Stephen Wright, Kevin Thomson, Peter Lovenkrands and Gregory Vignal.

“It has allowed us to create a new elite school partnership with Boclair Academy – where young Rangers players receive 18 hours of input from the club each week – and deliver an innovative games programme for our Development Squad which has seen challenging games with the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Benfica and Feyenoord.

“Most importantly, however, RYDC’s backing has allowed us to produce a first team player like Ross McCrorie.  The improvement in the quality of high performance provision available to a young talent such as Ross in the Academy when compared to two years ago is incredible and RYDC have played a massive part in this.  That is why we are so grateful.”

Ross McCrorie, who has graduated from the youth department and has established himself in the first team squad this season, added: “Yearly donations from the Rangers Youth Development Company have helped me progress as a player and their support is greatly appreciated.

“It is a pleasure to train and play for Rangers Football Club and I would not have been able to realise that dream without the Academy coaching staff and RYDC support. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. However, I know the hard work is only just starting.”
