JORDAN Rossiter starts his first game of the 2018/19 season as the Gers return to action after the international break against Hamilton.
The 21-year-old came off the bench against Ayr United in the League Cup last month for his only appearance since Steven Gerrard took over. The midfielder has had a season peppered with small injury issues since he completed the Gers pre-season in Spain.
He replaces Scott Arfield in Gerrard’s midfield, the 29-year-old picked up a hamstring problem while on international duty with Canada. Lassana Coulibaly has recovered quickly, after only returning from time with Mali on Friday, to join Rossiter and Ovie Ejaria in the middle.
There is change at the back for Rangers too as Nikola Katic returns to the starting XI ahead of Joe Worral. The Croatian had been kept out of the team by the Nottingham Forest loanee for the past month but returns alongside Connor Goldson this lunchtime.
Jon Flanagan makes way for Andy Halliday at left-back with Borna Barisic still nursing an injury. Halliday is the final name in a back four of James Tavernier, Goldon and Katic. Ever present in the Premiership Allan McGregor will start in goal.
The Gers had good record away to Hamilton last season, winning twice at The Hope CBD Stadium and scoring nine goals, with the only home game at Ibrox between the sides going the way of the Accies.
Martin Canning’s side are currently in ninth position in the Ladbrokes Premiership and will be looking to bounce back today following a disappointing 6-0 defeat last time out against Hibernian at Easter Road.
Colombian Alfredo Morelos is the figurehead of the attack, and he will be looking to score his twelfth goal of the season today against the Accies. Ryan Kent starts down the left with Daniel Candeias on the right of the Gers attack.
