WALTER SMITH felt the years rolling back as Ally McCoist headed in the winner for Rangers in tonight’s legends match.
The man in the dugout refused to take any credit for the substitution just moments before McCoist’s goal, but admits he enjoyed it just as much as the 47,000 strong crowd.
He said: “That’s what he always does and it takes you back tonight. It was great fun and I think all the boys enjoyed it and relished being back and the crowd came to watch them.
“It was a tremendous occasion. When you venture in to these games you’re never sure how many people they will attract but it speaks volumes for Rangers supporters that they turned out in the numbers they did tonight.
“47,000 people for what is effectively an old crocks’ game is not something we would really have expected.
“For the fans to turn out after the support they have given in the last few months and when the club has a game tomorrow morning is terrific.
“The Milan players and staff have a number of these matches throughout Europe all during the season but I’m sure they don’t get crowds like that so I think they enjoyed that.”
You can enjoy the full match again on RangersTV tonight.
