RUSSELL Martin spoke to RangersTV after the Gers were defeated 1-0 at Ibrox by Kilmarnock.

He said: It is fairly obvious we are all extremely disappointed, not just with the result but I think it is probably the first time in quite a while that we haven’t really been at it. We didn’t hit our level we can play at in any point in the game really.

“We didn’t create much, neither did they but we knew they would come with the game plan to sit in deep and make it difficult for us to break them down.

“We weren’t good enough to break it down and it was just a bit flat from the off really and it never really got going.

“I think our two best chances came from set pieces and they fell to me and I should have scored one. It is disappointing but we have to bounce back now, it is as simple as that.

“I should have scored when of them at least, it is frustrating. The first one has just taken a flick off the lad’s head before me and I couldn’t quite get enough on it. The second one hit both the bar and the post and I thought it was in.

“One of them should go in but we should be creating more chances than that in a game and we usually do, that is not like us.

“They have come away with not many chances at all. The game opened up when we tried to get a goal late on but before that there was nothing on in the game.

“When you are not at it and not playing as well as you possibly can then the least you need to get is a point and try and keep a clean sheet and we haven’t done it.

“We need to find a way of breaking that down at home, Hearts came and did the same and we found a way to break them down.

“We scored fairly early in that game and I think it is much easier when you do get the early goal because the other team has to open it.

“The longer it goes on, the longer they have something to hold on to and they always have the hope they might be able to nick something, which is what’s happened today.

“Fair play to them that is how they do it and they are on a great run of form and it is obviously working for them and their players buy into it and all that but we need to be better than that.

“Especially here at home we need to be winning games like that and we need to find a way to do it.

“We have a couple of weeks to work on that now and make sure we come back for the run in for the rest of the season and finish where we should do.”
