RANGERS can announce that Jon Flanagan has become the club’s seventh signing of the summer on a two-year deal.

The full-back joins from Liverpool Football Club after graduating from academy to first-team at Anfield. The defender played a crucial role in the Reds title chase of 2013/14 in a side captained by Steven Gerrard. He made 51 appearances for his boyhood club.

The new Gers boss has now brought his former teammate north of the border for a fresh challenge.

Flanagan can play at both right-back and left-back making him a vital addition to the Light Blues’ backline which has already been strengthened by the additions of Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson.

The 25-year-old has been loaned out twice while with Liverpool, the first a season long spell at Burnley and the second at Bolton Wanders in the first half of 2018.

Flanagan has one cap for England’s senior side and represented his country at Under 19, Under 20 and Under 21. He was on Roy Hodgson’s stand-by list for the 2014 World Cup
