RANGERS are today delighted to announce the signing of striker Florian Kamberi from Hibernian on-loan until the end of the season.
Kamberi, 24, has been capped at Switzerland under-21 international level and now represents Albania, where has included in the squad for their most recent international matches with Andorra and France in November.
He joined Hibs initially on-loan in January 2018 from Grasshoppers, and scored nine times in 14 Scottish Premiership appearances, having previously had a spell away from the Swiss club at 2.Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC.
That performance on-loan won him a three-year deal at Easter Road, and he netted a hat-trick on his full debut against NSI Runavik in the Europa League. Since then, he has made 65 appearances for the Leith club and netted 20 times.
Speaking to RangersTV on signing for the Gers, Kamberi said: “I am very excited. Ever since I came to Scotland it has been a dream for me to move to Rangers and it has happened today, so I am a very, very happy man.
“For me, Ibrox is the best atmosphere I have ever played in. My second game for Hibs was against Rangers at Ibrox and after the game, I told my agent immediately my dream would be to play in this stadium in front of these fans as they are the best fans in the world – the support is massive.”
Manager Steven Gerrard commented: “We’re happy to have concluded the deal for Florian and we welcome him to Rangers.
“We’ve watched him for some time and know what he can bring to the group. He is a hardworking, goalscoring attacker, who we believe will be able to contribute in a positive way to what we want to achieve this season.”
Sporting Director Ross Wilson added: “We were clear that we wanted to add to our attacking options this week and are pleased to have done so with Florian joining, following on from Ianis yesterday.”
