ALEX RAE can’t wait to play his part in the glamour clash with the Manchester United legends on Monday, May 6 – and he knows the fans will love it.

Rae has been a diehard Rangers fan since as long as he can remember so it’s a thrill for him to play with such legendary figures as Goram, Gough and Laudrup.

It promises to be fantastic Bank Holiday fun as Old Trafford stars like Dwight Yorke, Denis Irwin and Jesper Blomqvist will also be on show.

Rae, now assistant boss at Blackpool, said: “I can’t wait to come back to Ibrox and play – it’s always a pleasure and a fantastic experience.

“I just hope I last longer than the last time I played. I tore my thigh muscle after 20 minutes of the Milan Legends game which was a real nightmare.

“I will have to step up the fitness a bit but hopefully I will be in good shape come the 6th of May.

“I only got to play for Rangers for a short period at the tail-end of my career but it is a period I cherish and will never forget.

“It’s going to be fantastic to mix with people who are rightly classed as legends.

“I’m certain the Rangers public will come out in huge numbers to support the boys again and, of course, get a look at some great Manchester United players.

“I was in awe of the Nine in a Row guys and I have been fortunate enough to play with a few of them like the Goalie, Richard Gough and Ally McCoist.

“I mean these guys really are the best. McCoist is the club’s record scorer and they just don’t make them like Gough any more.

“Brian Laudrup has got to be the best player I have ever seen play for Rangers so to be involved with him is going to be sensational.

“It’s going to be a brilliant day for the fans and it’s also beneficial for the Rangers Charity Foundation which I have continued to be involved with since my playing days at Rangers.

“I think it’s tremendous that the Foundation does so much good, not just locally but across the country and beyond.”
