GEORGE EDMUNDSON is relishing playing in front of a demanding Ibrox – and believes it brings out the best in him.

Edmundson was in the side for this afternoon’s friendly match with Blackburn Rovers which ended in a 1-1 draw, and is already loving the pressures of playing in Govan.

He told RangersTV: “It was a good test for us. Blackburn are a good team but I thought we stepped up to the test well and I thought 1-1 was a fair result.

“[The expectation] is good and I feel like it helps me to perform better. I like the pressure and you get into football to have these pressures.

Edmundson has plenty of competition in defence with Filip Helander, Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic all competing for slots, and he continued: “Everybody offers something different, but they are all good lads and all good players – that’s why they are here.

“It is good to play with all of them, and I feel comfortable whoever I am put with, and if they are put with me, I feel we have a really good relationship.

“I have settled-in really well and all the lads have been really helpful and helped me with so many things.”

Edmundson now can’t wait for Thursday’s visit of Progres Niederkorn having made his European debut against St Joseph’s on Thursday, adding: “I put something on Twitter and most of the fans were saying that was quite quiet, so I can’t wait for a bigger game, like on Thursday night.

“Hopefully I can get in the squad and play.

“Everyone is looking forward to it, and playing in nights like those is why you play football. “So we will just prepare for Thursday and hopefully get the right result.”
