RANGERS defeated Dundee 1-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, but what happened elsewhere in the division at the weekend?
Kilmarnock 0 Celtic 1
Celtic maintained their advantage at the top of the Premiership with a narrow victory over Kilmarnock on Friday night. A Stuart Armstrong goal just before half time was enough to give Brendan Rodgers’ side victory at Rugby Park, although Kilmarnock pushed hard in the second half in the search for an, albeit elusive, equaliser.
Inverness 1 Aberdeen 3
Aberdeen defeated Inverness Caley for the first time in five attempts on Saturday. Lonsana Doumbouya put the home side ahead against the run of play before Kenny McLean levelled with a free-kick. Adam Rooney then put the Dons ahead from the penalty spot before McLean sealed the deal in the last minute of normal time.
Motherwell 2 Partick Thistle 0
Motherwell rose from the play-off spot to sixth in the Premiership with victory over Partick Thistle at Fir Park. Goals from striking duo Louis Moult and Scott McDonald before half time ensured all three points remained in Lanarkshire.
St Johnstone 2 Ross County 4
Having failed to win any of their last 10 matches, Ross County pulled off an impressive victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Saturday.Jay McEveley and Christopher Routis put County in command by half-time with a header each before another header – this time from Craig Curran – put County well in control just after the hour mark. The Saints mounted something of a comeback however, netting through a Danny Swanson penalty before Steven MacLean set up a tense finish with 10 minutes to go. Liam Boyce put the result beyond doubt three minutes later however with yet another headed goal.
