RANGERS defeated Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox to move into second place in the Ladbrokes Premiership here’s what happened across the league this weekend.
Goals from Kenny Miller, Alfredo Morelos, Jamie Murphy and man of the match Daniel Candeias gave the Gers three points at Ibrox to lift the Light Blues onto 62 points, level with Aberdeen.
Graeme Murty’s men have a much better goal difference (14 goals) than the Dons, who were defeated 2-0 at Tynecastle on Saturday thanks to goals from Steven Naismith and Manuel Milinkovic.
Neil Lennon’s Hibernian also dropped points this weekend, drawing 1-1 in Dingwall. Billy McKay opened the scoring for The Staggies just before the half hour mark only for a last minute equaliser from Ollie Shaw to give the Hibees a share of the spoils and to allow the Gers to stretch the gap to the fourth placed side.
Kilmarnock continued their good form away to Partick Thistle with a 1-0 win from a goal scored by Stuart Findlay. The final match on Saturday was a goalless draw between St Johnstone and the Gers’ last opponent, Motherwell.
On Sunday, Celtic travelled to Hamilton to take on Martin Canning’s Accies and returned to the east end of the city with all three points. Callum McGregor opened the scoring before Rakish Bingham levelled in the 18th minute. Leigh Griffiths climbed off the bench to grab a quick fire winner just after half time as Hamilton played the second half with ten men following Darren Lyon’s sending off.
There’s a break in League proceedings this week for most as attention shifts to Scottish Cup duty, where Aberdeen take on Motherwell on Saturday with the Gers facing Celtic at Hampden on Sunday. The only game happening is Hamilton Accies against Kilmarnock on Saturday at 3pm.
