Leigh Griffiths scored two goals for Brendan Rodgers’ side, with Scott Sinclair and Callum McGregor scoring for Celtic and Isma scoring for Hearts in a 4:1 win.

Neil Lennon’s Hibernian are back in the League this season and they also got off to a winning start at Easter Road after an early scare when Chris Erskine opened the scoring. Hibs then grabbed goals tonight Martin Boyle, former Gers defender Steven Whittaker and Simon Murray in a 3:1 over Alan Archibald’s Patrick Thistle.
The final match on Saturday saw Gers Hall of Fane player Lee McCulloch’s Kilmarnock beaten 2-1 by St Johnstone. David Wotherspoon opened the scoring for the Saints early in the first half, which was cancelled out by a Kris Boyd free kick in the second half before Gers loan player Michael O’Halloran capped a mazy dribble into the box with a cool finish.
On Sunday afternoon, following the win over Motherwell, Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen defeated Hamilton 2-0 thanks to goals from Anthony O’Connor and Miles Story after Xavier Thomas had been sent off for the Accies.
