AS well as Rangers superb 2-0 win over Hearts, there were five other fixtures in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend. Here’s a look back at how they went.
Aberdeen 0 St Johnstone 0
Aberdeen moved four points behind Rangers after only managing a draw at home to St Johnstone. In a game of few chances, it was the Saints who had the better of the few opportunities, and indeed, only a fingertip save from Dons keeper Joe Lewis prevented a David Wotherspoon free-kick from taking the three points back to Perth.
Dundee 0 Ross County 0
Dundee and Ross County drew a blank at Dens Park with both sides remaining in the bottom six. County’s Liam Boyce had a goal disallowed after a foul on Darren O’Dea, while in the second half, Dees keeper Scott Bain had to be t his best to save an Alex Schalk header in the box.
Motherwell 0 Kilmarnock 0
The goalless theme continued at Fir Park, with neither side creating much in the way of clear goalscoring opportunities. Ross MacLean and Louis Moult missed chances for Well while Killie’s best opportunity came from Souleymane Coulibaly.
Inverness 1 Hamilton 1
Fortunately, there were goals to report at the Caledonian Stadium. Ali Crawford opened the scoring for Accies, catching goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams out at his near post early on. The home side fought back however and leveled in the second half through Larnell Cole.
Partick Thistle 1 Celtic 4
Celtic’s unbeaten run continued at Firhill on Friday night. Stuart Armstrong hit a double and Leigh Griffiths scored before Liam Lindsay pulled one back for the Jags. Callum McGregor wrapped the points up for Celtic late-on however.
