JASON HOLT scored the opening goal for the Gers today and he said that patience was the key for the Light Blues against the Doonhamers.
Derek Lyle gave Queen of the South the lead which they held going into the second half before Holt pulled it back to 1:1 with a fine goal from a James Tavernier pass.
Holt was delighted to get the win and when he spoke after the game, he said that the team wanted to dedicate the win to Rhya Story for whom the team had taken a picture for recently to show their support for her as she battled illness.
Rhya sadly passed away last week and the team wanted to win the match in her memory. Jason told RangersTV: “It’s always nice to win any game and I think that we just had to be patient today.
“We eventually got the goal and it was a special day for us because we all wanted to dedicate a win to the girl Rhya who passed away earlier in the week.
“We battled ever so hard for the win today and we just wanted to do that for her today.”
Programme cover star for the match Holt was over the moon to get on the scoresheet today and grab his third for the club since joining in the summer.
He said: “I was delighted to get the goal today and like I’d said in the pre-match notes, I’d like to get more goals this season. I’m just delighted to get one today and to help the team.”
“I think that we’ve showed again like we did in previous games that we’ll keep on fighting. Teams will come here and try to frustrate us and it’s just down to us and we’ve done well today in the end.”
