CLINT HILL didn’t need to be persuaded to join Rangers, but a couple of conversations with his pal Joey Barton got him even more excited about a move to Ibrox.

Barton, who signed for the Gers on May 24, was Hill’s team-mate at Queens Park Rangers from 2011 to 2015 and during this time the pair, who are both from Merseyside, became close friends.

Former Marseille midfielder Joey was blown away by Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park when he signed for the Light Blues and he passed on his positive thoughts to Hill when he was linked with the Gers.

Clint said: “No one needs to sell this club to anybody to be honest with you, but he was a big influence.

“He told me about the training ground, the stadium, the passion of the fans, and he said it’s a big club, a very, very big club.

“When he says that, and you think of the history and CV that he’s got, then you know it’s special.

“I can’t wait to get started with him.”

Hill admits the last two weeks have been a whirlwind and when speaking to RangersTV at the club’s training centre on Friday, he had yet to step foot into Ibrox Stadium. It’s something he is looking forward to.

“I am, I’ve just seen it from the motorway, the tops of it with the white, but I haven’t actually stood in there yet.

“I can’t wait to stand in the middle with all those fans behind you, It’s going to be something special.”
