MARK WARBURTON will not allow his side to get carried away after an impressive display against Hibs secured top spot in the Championship at the turn of the year.

The players’ focus quickly turned to Saturday’s match with Dumbarton, and while their manager allowed them to enjoy victory he knows a result this weekend is as important.

He said: “There’s no point winning three points against Hibs and then dropping points in our next games.

“We want to win every game that we play. We prepare the work in the same way, there is no dropping in standards.

“We have to go in to every game expecting a tough test and do our homework and our analysis.”

Warburton is hoping for a similar display against Dumbarton, and where possible for improvements.

He added: “We’re always looking to improve. Everything can be better, the quality of touch and quality of pass.

“Could we be braver in the first half hour, yes we probably could.

“From the first whistle we knew Hibs would try to quieten the Ibrox crowd so we had to get the ball back quickly and we did that.

“I don’t think we had to make a statement. We were top of the league and we just kept quiet and went about our work which worked well for us.

“It was a very strong performance, simple as that.”
