RANGERS Director Paul Murray has paid tribute to the work of Stuart McCall and Kenny Black after Mark Warburton and David Weir were announced as the club’s new management team.
McCall and Black took over the Ibrox reigns on a short-term basis back in March and managed to lead the club to the Premiership play-off final, although it was to end in disappointment as the Light Blues were defeated by Motherwell.
Speaking at yesterday’s news conference, Murray said: “The board had a very important decision to make, and we’ve taken some time to make that decision.
“We spoke to a very small number of excellent candidates, and I’d like to publicly thank all of those candidates for their interest in the job.
“I’d like to make particular mention of Stuart McCall and Kenny Black, who have conducted themselves superbly over the last three months.
“I think Stuart’s comments in the press sum-up the class and professionalism of the man.
“He leaves the club with our best wishes. He is a club legend and he will always be welcome back here.
“Both John [Gilligan] and I would like to thank Stuart and Kenny for their help and support personally and to the team in the past three months.”
