ALFREDO MORELOS is delighted to have joined Rangers today and can’t wait to grow as a person and as a player at the club.
The Columbian centre forward signed from HJK Helsinki on a three year contract this afternoon, before making his debut in a Light Blue jersey in a closed door game against TNS.
Morelos spoke exclusively to RangersTV and explained his delight at becoming Pedro Caixinha’s sixth summer signing.
He said: “I’m very happy – I’m really grateful to God and my family who have supported me in the best way to do things well every day.
“This club has such a big support, so I have to make the most of it. It’s safe to say that Rangers is a really big club and I’m happy with the support the fans have shown me already – it’s been the best.
“I want to show the fans here what I did every day in Finland – to grow more as a player and as a person.”
Morelos explained to RangersTV that before joining up with his new club, he did his research and set himself the goal of working hard to get into the side.
He continued: “I did some research on the internet about the history and games – I know that it’s a really big club and that they’ve played in really big tournaments.
“I found out a lot of interesting things – it’s a really big club here so I want to make the most of this opportunity.
“I want to do things the best way and try to do well in very match and every training session, to win trophies and to be a regular first team player.
“I know it won’t be easy- it’s going to be difficult because other team-mates will also be focused on this too.
“I need to do things well every day and when I have the opportunity to play, to enjoy it and to continue to score goals and to grow more as a person and player.”
The 20 year old striker is a Colombian international at under-20 level, and with Finland playing a summer season, in his 19 games so far, he has hit a total of 17 goals.
When asked about what the Gers fans can expect from him as a player, he said. “As a number 9, I can hold off defenders, I’m mobile in and around the box, I’m strong up-front and quick – I have a change of pace.
“The most important thing is that I score goals – when the opportunity is there, I score.
“I had a really excellent season in Finland and last year was quite incredible for me. It was amazing for me.
“I grew as a player and a person and 2017 also started that way after the holidays and I came back for pre-season – I was scoring goals in every game and I was really enjoying it.
“This is a wonderful opportunity and I want to continue to do the same here, to keep growing more as a person and player.
“I’m really motivated and pleased to start training and matches here at Rangers.”
