IT’S six months to the day since Pedro Caixinha took charge of Rangers – although the Portuguese gaffer was totally unaware of the milestone!
Unveiled the day before Graeme Murty led Gers to a highly creditable 1-1 draw with Celtic at Parkhead, Caixinha has enjoyed both highs and lows in his time in charge so far.
When asked today by RangersTV about the landmark, he was totally taken by surprise given how focused he has been on his task since taking control.
He explained: “I didn’t notice six months had already passed – and I am sometimes so obsessed and so involved in my work that I don’t count or hear the amount of time that has passed.
“I am just looking forward to preparing the next match, and that is what I am really, really focussed on. I am really enjoying it and I am really looking forward to delivering a team the fans enjoy and the fans are glad to support.
“I need to do that on a daily basis and already six months have passed – I am really happy to be working in this massive club, and I am in the sort of job I dreamt about, so it is a case of living it every day to make this football club and this team bigger and bigger and bigger to get back into the position we want to be in.”
And, in terms of Rangers living up to Caixinha’s expectations, there was absolutely no doubt in his mind.
“Totally,” he added. “This is a massive club – a massive club which is always there to answer to your demands, and it is always there with that vision regarding to the future on the position we are going to get to.
“It is going to take time, it is going to take hard work, but we don’t care about that.”
