RANGERS defeated St Mirren in the first home Ladbrokes Premiership match of the season and here’s what happened across the rest of the league.

Hearts won the first game of the weekend as Kyle Lafferty scored the only goal of the game against Celtic at Tynecastle in a 1:0 win which continued their 100% record at the start of the season.

In the Lanarkshire derby, Steven Boyd scored the only goal of the game as Hamilton Accies beat Motherwell. Aberdeen also won by a single goal as Gary Mackay-Steven converted from the spot away to Dundee.

Livingston and Kilmarnock played out a goalless draw a t the Tony Macaroni Arena in the final match on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Gers won 2-0 thanks to goals from Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos and in the other match, St Johnstone drew with Hibernian, as Stephen Mallan and Oli Shaw got on the scoresheet.

This leaves Hearts top of the table early in the season with a maximum six points, with Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and the Light Blues tied with four points.

There’s a break from Ladbrokes Premiership next weekend with the Betfred Cup the focus. The Gers travel to Rugby Park on Sunday 19th August for a 12:30 kick off against Kilmarnock, following the trip to Maribor on Thursday.
