RANGERS will invite young supporter Kraig Mackay to Wednesday’s game with St Johnstone after he was injured en-route to yesterday’s game with Celtic at Hampden.

The youngster was struck with a bottle thrown by a lout after the minibus the 11 year-old was travelling on broke down close to a group of rival fans. Kraig required hospital treatment and missed the match.

Speaking at today’s press conference, manager Mark Warburton explained: “I heard about it first thing this morning and the club has kept me informed, and I’m so disappointed to hear that about a young fan that should have been on his way to what should have been an enjoyable afternoon.

“The club have been in contact, and Kraig will join us on Wednesday night as our mascot, which we are looking forward to. We will look after him and he will be in the directors’ box too.

“It was very upsetting news to hear, but hopefully we can make it up to him on Wednesday night.”
