RYAN KENT is only a couple of weeks away from a return to action according to Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
The winger suffered a hamstring injury in training ahead of the Gers trip to Moscow before the international break. It meant he also missed the emphatic 7-1 win over Motherwell at Ibrox.
But Gerrard told RangersTV the Liverpool loanee has been in rehab while domestic football was on the back burner and has made some significant progress with 11 games coming up in the next month for Rangers.
The manager said:
“The international break has come at a good time for Ryan Kent because he has had ten days to two weeks without any games at a really important stage of a hamstring injury.
“He is probably now a couple of weeks away, hopefully if everything keeps moving the way it has been because he is doing really well. He is out on the pitch doing some jogging so he progressing really well.”
Meanwhile Borna Barisic is nearing a return from the calf problem which has had him missing from action since the end of September.
The Croatian hasn’t played since the Gers last league defeat against Livingston on September 30th.
“Borna is very close; whether he is available for the weekend we will make a decision in the next couple of days. But over the next two or three games Borna will be back in the squad.
Connor Goldson missed the Light Blues win last time out through illness but the defender has recovered over the break to be ready to face Livingston this weekend.
The manager explained: “Connor Goldson is fine again too, that was more of an illness rather than an injury which kept him out against Motherwell. He has recovered well and he is available for the weekend.”
