NIKOLA KATIC was thrilled to make amends for his slip against Blackburn Rovers last week by netting the winner against Derby County at Ibrox today.

The Croatian warrior held his hands up for his role in the equaliser last Sunday, and although the goal was a great moment for him, he admits the clean sheet means even more.

Speaking to RangersTV, he explained: “It was a really tough game for us and I am happy as I scored for us to win. Pre-season is over now so we can focus on Thursday’s match and the league.

“We are happy with our performances in pre-season and we will push and keep going. I’m happy I have improved from the last game where I made the mistake and we conceded the only goal of pre-season.

“I was sad because of that, but today I am happier that we kept the clean sheet, and if you ask me, I think we should have scored more goals but their goalkeeper was outstanding today and I am really proud of the performance of the boys today.”

Katic reckons the tests Gers have faced in pre-season will set them up nicely for the Scottish Premiership campaign, adding: “It was good as we played a lot of games and we played Blackburn and Derby who are a similar level to what we might face in the league.

“We dealt well with them so I think we are ready to start the season now. We are ready to go.”
