RYAN Jack says Rangers answered their critics as they turned 10 man Kilmarnock over at Ibrox to reach the Scottish Cup Quarter-Finals.

The midfielder, who returned after missing Saturday’s draw with St Johnstone through injury, explained to RangersTV that the Gers carried out Steven Gerrard’s game plan to perfection.

Jack was involved in goals four and five of the Light Blues 5-0 win as Alfredo Morelos got himself on the scoresheet four times.

Speaking to RangersTV Jack said: “Every time we have played Kilmarnock this season it has been a tough match, they have always gave us a good game.

“Tonight was pleasing, it is a big result for us and we are just pleased to get round to the next round of the cup.

“It was disappointing on Saturday and the manager said he wanted to make sure we had a reaction.

“It is good character between the players and we will always back each other and we’ll always stick together.

“Even through tough times people are going to ask questions and it’s important we’re the ones who answer them and tonight we did that.

“He said what we need to do is try and counter press every time we do lose the ball and try and get straight after Kilmarnock players again and try and hunt the ball down as high up the pitch as we can. Thankfully two of the goals came from us actually doing that so it was a good performance.

“This season Alfredo has just taken his game to a new level and even his all round play; closing people down, holding the ball up, bring others into play and his finishing is outstanding.”

Rangers now have two Premiership games, against Hamilton and Dundee before a trip to Pittodrie in the final eight of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Jack continued: “Every game is big from now until the end of the season, there is no chance to drop us any points or maybe to not get through in the cup.

“We have to be bang at it in every game and I am sure if we approach every game the way we have tonight then we’ll be fine.”
