GEDION ZELALEM was on the winning side for the American under-23 again last night against Panama as the road to the Olympics in Rio continues.
The US National Team moved on to the semifinal round of the 2015 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament as the top seed out of Group A after a 4-0 win against Panama at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
Panama held the match to a goalless draw until the half time mark before second half goals from Jerome Kiesewetter, Jordan Morgan, Luis Gil and an own goal from Fidel Escobar secured victory.
In the other Olympics qualifying group, Luca Gasparotto played the full ninety minutes as Canada drew 2-2 with Cuba thanks to goals from Mo Babouli and Michael Petrasso. Watch highlights on the game HERE.
USA will face Honduras clash in the first semifinal and Canada will face Mexico in the second, with both matches to be played at the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah on October 10.
Fraser Aird flew to Florida join up with the main Canadian squad this week for a training camp ahead of their friendly match against Ghana in Washington on October 13.
The Canadian side is preparing for the November start of the fourth round of World Cup qualifying in the CONCACAF region. They will host Honduras on November 13 in Vancouver before playing in El Salvador on November 17.
Nathan Oduwa linked up with Keith Downing’s England under-20 side on Monday to travel to Germany ahead of a match against Holland in Germany.
They will then play Turkey three days later at the Donaustadion in Ulm, before they return to Heidenheim for the final match of the competition with Germany on Tuesday 13 October.
