RANGERS defeated Inverness on Saturday and we’ve pulled together some facts and figures from the game.
- Before Saturday, Rangers had only ever played 12 matches on Christmas Eve – 10 league games, one Scottish Cup tie and one friendly. This is much fewer than on Christmas Day itself where Gers have played no fewer than 30 matches, the most recent being a 1-0 victory over Hibernian at Easter Road in 1971 when Colin Stein scored.
- Rangers have won the last six meetings between the sides in the league which surpasses their previous best run from August 2007 to January 2009. Sandwiched between the two streaks was a three-game sequence where ICT won once and the other two matches were drawn.
- Kris Boyd is the top scorer in the fixture, having scored eight goals in league meetings between the sides, including the only hat-trick to date, in November 2008. Barry Ferguson has four goals to his name, while Kenny Miller moved onto three with his winner in the first meeting this season. Craig Dargo is top of the ICT list with three goals.
