STEVEN GERRARD believes Rangers have made positive strides forward this season but he also feels a lot that can be improved on.
The manager took time out towards the end of the club winter training camp in Tenerife to speak exclusively to RangersTV about the first-half of the 2018/19 season, and he said: “I’m delighted. I think in terms of the European run we punched above our weight and probably exceeded expectation if you compare it to 12 months ago.
“In terms of the league we are obviously in a healthy position on the back of a really important Old Firm win, but looking back and analysing it there are still areas where we can get better and we can improve.
We have dropped silly points at times and we have had a few bumps and set-backs along the way, which I expected and I predicted, but moving forward the less of them the better.
“Look, it’s all to play for. The important thing for us is to focus on the next three points but I am not going to sit here and lie. We have got targets in-house that we all want to go and achieve and that’s the way it should be at a big club.”
The manager, speaking at the team hotel in Costa Adeje, has enjoyed a productive week in the Canary Islands but it is clear he is itching to see his Rangers side return to competitive action.
He continued: “Look, I’m happy here and I’m enjoying the training camp, but of course I can’t wait to get back into it.
“I’ve had a rest now, I’ve had a week off with my family and we’re back into it in terms of training and preparing the players for the second half of the season. But my buzz is on the sideline when kick-off happens, so roll on Cowdenbeath.”
