RANGERS hero Jason Cummings knew he would find the net after he replaced Alfredo Morelos in the second half of today’s Premiership clash with Ross County.
The on loan striker went on in the 77th minute with the score 1-0 in the Light Blues’ favour, but just five minutes later he had found the net with a sweet left-foot strike which nestled in the bottom corner of the net in front of the ecstatic away support.
It was a special moment for Cummings and he expressed his delight in an interview with RangersTV after the final whistle.
He said: “It’s something I’ll remember for a long time, my first goal for Rangers.
“Warming up in front of the fans I couldn’t believe the reception I was getting so I was eager to get on and just to get a chance.
It came to me and I got a wee bit of luck, it hit the defender, but it went in and I was buzzing.
“Every game I’ve got that feeling that I’m going to score. Today I did, I had a gut instinct that if I got on I would get a chance and I would take it.
“I’m just glad it hit the back of the net and the celebrations were brilliant at the Rangers end.
“I think I picked the ball up at the halfway line and I thought I would run and try to get it on to my left foot as quick as I can.
“I kind of just hit it and it went in. I saw it hit the net and I was just buzzing.
“It was unreal, since I have come to the club the fans have treated me unreal.
“The reception I got warming up and at Ibrox, it was some reception there as well, so I’m just glad we got them the three points.
“Obviously travelling all the way up here to support us, different class, and we got them the win.
It was a deserved victory for us but when you come up here it’s a hard game no matter what, and they made it hard for us at the end.
“I thought first half we were in control and we probably should have been up a few more goals if we had taken our chances.
“At the end of the game they came into it a wee bit but overall, well deserved.
“The manager was delighted and the main thing is the three points. He said to me before I was going on that I was going to score and he was right.”
