ANDY HALLIDAY was frustrated with the result and performance against Alloa today but delighted with everything that the team has achieved this season thus far.
The Gers midfielder put a first half penalty round the post and the Light Blues could only draw with Alloa at Ibrox, but nevertheless Halliday says that after a hard fought campaign the squad deserve to celebrate today’s trophy lift.
Speaking on the pitch after today’s game, Halliday said: “It’s what we have deserved after a fantastic season, it’s just a shame that it had to finish the way that it did today.
“From a personal point of view, it was obviously a nightmare for me too. However we’ve got to have a smile on our face because of everything that we have achieved since the start of the season.
“We’ve done it with a few games to spare, it’s just disappointing to kind of spoil the party a little with the performance today.”
Halliday grew up as a Gers supporter and has fond memories of title wins and says that whilst this season’s isn’t perhaps as spectacular as some of the dramatic ones of the past, it still means the world.
He continued: “Rangers have had some great title wins in the past. We’ve had some great away days and some great title deciders.
“Our perhaps wasn’t as spectacular, but it’s been in a good manner throughout the season. We were trying to go for 88 points, so it’s disappointing to only get the draw today.
Halliday was delighted to see yet another packed and noisy Ibrox today and said that the fans deserve every accolade for the way they have supported the team.
He said: “We’ve had this magnificent support since day one. They’ve followed us home and away and you can see just how much this means to be back in the Premiership next season.”
