ANDY HALLIDAY was delighted to play his part – and score – in Rangers’ remarkable 4-2 Florida Cup victory over Corinthians at the Spectrum Stadium in Orlando.

Andy replaced Jason Holt at half-time with the Light Blues two goals down and he went on to score a dramatic equaliser after Alfredo Morelos had pulled one back.

El Bufalo then made it 3-2 with another stunning finish before James Tavernier found the net from close range to complete a terrific comeback.

Speaking to RangersTV post-match, Halliday said: “It was very pleasing. I thought the boys actually did okay in the first half and they moved the ball pretty well.

“Two mistakes and they got two goals so I thought in the second half we tried to do pretty much the same, press them higher, and we managed to nick it off them quite a few times in the final third. It was a good comeback and we managed to get a few good goals.

“Like I said I thought the boys did well in the first half, not too dissimilar from the game during the week.

We kept the ball pretty well and we managed to cut them open a couple of times. We sometimes just need to be a bit more ruthless with our chances.

“Thankfully we managed to come back and get a good victory.”

Andy was understandably pleased to be back on the scoresheet having returned to Rangers this month after a recent loan spell in Azerbaijan with Gabala.

He said: “Obviously I’ve got a bit more of a license with the two-man midfield so the ball went down the right-hand side, I think it was Bufalo, and I managed to get on the edge of the box and it was a good find with the cut back. I was just there to put it into the top of the net.”

On Morelos’ two-goal display, Halliday added: “He was excellent. I think the second goal especially was a very good finish.

“The first one was a great ball from Gossy who I thought was excellent as well today. So yeah, Alfredo put in a very good performance.

“The most important thing was to come here and get to know each other a bit better and sort of emphasise our style of play that we want to take forward into the second half of the season.

“But don’t get me wrong we had two games we certainly wanted to win and we’ve managed to do that.”
