RANGERS Development Squad are nearing the start of their competitive season – they take on Falkirk’s first team in the Irn Bru Cup tomorrow and fans can cheer them on.
A Gers under 21 side will travel to Forthbank Stadium for a 19:30 kick-off early next week looking to progress in the Challenge Cup – a trophy the first-team lifted in 2016.
Rangers are one of a number of Premiership sides who have entered academy teams into the competition for the third season running. Last year the youngsters were put out in the first round by a senior Dumbarton side away from home so will be looking to go one better this time around.
Falkirk had a losing start to their league season, going down 1-0 to Inverness at home, while they lost 2-1 away to Partick Thistle on Saturday. They split their League Cup group games 50/50, winning two and losing two.
Meanwhile the Gers youths have had a near unbeaten pre-season under Graeme Murty, with a win in FC Viktoria Plzeň EN tournament in Prague and wins over Legia Warsaw and Newcastle United amongst others.
